Seismometer

DESCRIPTION

During this workshop participants were given an Arduino, a buzzer, accelerometer, LCD screen, LED, and potentiometer. They would then wired and code a functional seismometer. This device played a pivotal role during subsequent bridge testing on a shaker table.

The initial calibration involved finding the base acceleration values across the x, y, and z axes. Once this calibration was successful, the seismometer would detect excessive movement by constantly checking the rate of acceleration of the seismometer. If the acceleration of the device was above the threshold it would trigger an alert. The buzzer would sound, and the LED would turn on.
