Mechanical Flower

DESCRIPTION

Combining an Arduino Uno, a servo motor, an LED, and a homemade capacitive touch sensor—embodied as a spoon— I created a mechanical lotus. The spoon, serving as a touch-sensitive trigger, initiates a sequence of events. Upon the first touch, the LED turns on, while the lotus blooms. A second touch triggeres the reverse, closing the flower and turning the LED off. For this project I created all of the models, with the exception of the large petals.

This is a video of the circuit being tested. It's hard to see, but the motor rotates, and the LED turns on/off when the spoon is touched.

This was when the inner flower was being tested to ensure the LED could fit inside and still work.

At this point, I was ensuring that all the pieces and components fit together before proceeding with the final assembly. As you can see, there was an issue with the LED, which was later fixed once the circuit was soldered.
